Today, the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant published the results of an inquiry into the compensation of so-called "top directors" in 2008, based on a comparison of 22 out of the 25 companies listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. TomTom, Boskalis and SBM Offshore were excluded as they have not yet published their numbers.
The outcome is that director compensation tanked with 21% to an average of € 3 million, mainly due to dropping bonusses (32% to an average of € 813.000) and share/option related profits (29% to € 969.000). Also see here for more information.
